Health Program

El Centro Hispano's Health Program works with the Hispanic/Latino community to advance overall health & well being through our Health Prevention & Promotion, Health Service Access & Healthy Activities programming.

El Centro Hispano's annual Health Fair brings together over 50 agencies and almost 150 volunteers to assist 700 plus people through fun activities, health screenings and education sessions.

Health Prevention and Promotion

Annual Health Fair Each year ECH and over 50 partner agencies come together to provide health screenings, education sessions & fun activities to the Triangle community.

HIV/STD Prevention ECH holds educational courses about HIV & STD prevention for the Hispanic/Latino communities in Durham & Carrboro- Chapel Hill. ECH also provides HIV/STD testing in collaboration with other organizations. Funded by the NC Department of Health & Human Services & the Alliance of AIDS Services–Carolina.

Health Service Access

Local Access to Coordinated Healthcare (LATCH) educates the Durham Hispanic/Latino community about medical services available to those lacking health insurance. Funded by Duke University Medical Center. vHealthy Activities

PESA (Promoviendo Estado Saludable/ Promoting a Healthy Status) The PESA program, originally developed at the Duke Hypertension Center, consists of 20 group sessions intended to educate, inspire, & support healthy changes in diet & exercise behaviors. The program is offered at the ECH offices in Carrboro-Chapel Hill & Durham. Funded by the NC Office of Minority Health & Health Disparities.
