The Gala is El Centro Hispano’s signature fundraising event to benefit individuals served by the organization, namely Latinos, low-income/poor families, adults with low-literacy/limited English proficiency, unskilled workers, the uninsured, youth, new immigrants, migrant workers, and LGBTQ communities in Durham, Orange, Wake, and surrounding municipalities.
The event is held each year in the Triangle area to raise funds for the organization and features a sit-down dinner, dancing to a live Latin band, a live auction, an organizational report, and the presentation of various awards and recognitions to include:
The Gilbertson-Clark Visionary Award is a top honor named after its founders. This award is presented to a community collaborator for demonstrating an extraordinary commitment to strengthening the Latino community.
The President’s Award is presented to a benefactor whose commitment goes above and beyond financial support.
The Volunteer of the year Award recognizes the efforts of an individual that has exceeded our expectations in regard to time and contribution of a program and/ or the organization as a whole.
